One could make a really good argument that the snowboarders were the faces of Team USA in these Sochi Olympics.

Even though Shaun White was unable to medal in the men’s halfpipe (an event that went to Iouri “I-Pod” Podladtchikov of Switzerland), Kaitlyn Farrington pulled off a surprise gold there in the women’s event.

Then there’s Sage Kotsenburg and Jamie Anderson, who became two of the biggest stars in Sochi after claiming the inaugural Olympic golds in slopestyle.

We also saw a thrilling duel among American riders Alex Deibold and Trevor Jacob in snowboard cross and the emergence of the Japanese, who left Sochi with multiple snowboarding medals.

Shawn Smith of NBCOlympics.com has more in his recap from Sochi.
