A little blood wasn’t going to stop Anastasia Martiusheva from finishing her short program at last weekend’s NHK Trophy in Tokyo.
Martiusheva’s chin smacked the ice when she fell after a throw from partner Alexei Rogonov. She quickly got up, touched her chin and skated on.
Martiusheva must have known she was bleeding the rest of the program -- some two minutes -- because she immediately put her left hand on her chin at its conclusion. She covered it with a towel in the kiss-and-cry area.
Martiusheva and Rogonov finished seventh out of eight pairs in the short program and placed seventh overall at NHK Trophy.
