Red Bull bills it as a snowboarding event you’ve never seen before.
It’s called the Red Bull Double Pipe, a competition taking place on side-by-side halfpipes being built in Aspen, Colo., from March 19-23. It will be the largest halfpipe ever built, Red Bull said.
The event will be televised on NBC on April 12 as part of the Red Bull Signature Series.
The pipe will be made for both halfpipe and slopestyle riders, complete with rails, wallrides, channels and other unique features, according to Red Bull’s site.
The double pipe will measure, in total, 180 feet wide, 550 feet long and 22 feet tall with an approximate 4-foot-wide spine in between each pipe, Red Bull said. In theory, snowboarders could switch from pipe to pipe during a single run.
The full event format, schedule and list of “hand-picked” riders is expected to be announced shortly.
