Kaetlyn Osmond, the top Canadian women’s figure skater the previous two seasons, suffered a broken right fibula in training Thursday and will be out at least six weeks.

Osmond pulled out of her two Grand Prix season assignments, Skate Canada and Trophée Bompard.

Osmond, 18, won an Olympic silver medal as Canada’s women’s singles representative in the Sochi team event. She’s the two-time reigning Canadian national champion and finished 13th individually in Sochi.

Osmond was eighth at the 2013 World Championships and 11th at the 2014 World Championships.

She hopes to compete at the Canadian National Championships in January.
