U.S. Youth Olympic swimmers Hannah Moore and Clara Smiddy are not only teammates in Nanjing, but they are also set to be roommates at the University of Michigan.

They met for the first time on a recruiting trip at Ann Arbor and became such quick friends that they decided to room together.

They also excel in the same stoke, backstroke, as evidenced by their gold medals at the Games.

Smiddy, home schooled in Miami, captured the 100m back by .01 on Monday. Moore, of Cary, N.C., tied for gold in the 200m back with an Italian swimmer on Tuesday.

The Youth Olympics continue with coverage on NBCSN and NBC Sports Live Extra at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday and Thursday.
