Gabby Douglas already has two books out, so why not add a biopic?
The Olympic all-around champion will be the subject of a Lifetime TV movie set to air in 2014. “The Gabby Douglas Story” -- that’s a working title -- will film in Manitoba, Canada, and star Sydney Mikayla and Imani Hakim as Douglas.
Mikayla will play Douglas during her early childhood years, and Hakim, 20, will play the teenage Douglas, according to a press release published on Zap2It.com.
Hakim is best known from the TV series “Everybody Hates Chris.”
Douglas will also appear in the film, as will Regina King from “Southland” (as Douglas’ mother) and Epatha Merkerson from “Law & Order” (as Douglas’ grandmother).
Douglas’ now former coach, Liang Chow, will be played by Brian Tee of “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.”
