Tatyana McFadden shared her story, from being adopted in Russia to becoming a dominant Paralympic track and field athlete, during an appearance on The Ellen Show that aired Wednesday.
McFadden told host Ellen DeGeneres that she prepared for the appearance by asking First Lady Michelle Obama for advice last week at the White House. In their 10-second encounter, Obama told McFadden to “have fun, because [DeGeneres] is fun and crazy.”
DeGeneres thanked McFadden by presenting her with wheelchair spinners:

McFadden will race Sunday at the Chicago Marathon. She has won the race every year since 2011.
