Four years after taking silver in the women’s triple jump, Colombia’s Caterine Ibarguen won gold Sunday night in Rio.

Ibarguen’s best jump of 15.17 meters (49 feet, 9 ¼ inches) came on her fourth attempt, with that being enough to seal her first Olympic gold medal. Taking silver was Yulimar Rojas of Venezuela with a long of 14.98 meters (49-1 ¾), and Kazakstan’s Olgan Rypakova (48-4 ½) took bronze with a long of 14.74 meters.

The lone American in the field was Keturah Orji, who at 14.71 meters (48-3 ¼) just missed out on a medal by placing fourth. Orji’s best jump, which broke the American record that she held, came on her first attempt. That had her positioned for an Olympic medal until the fifth round, when Rypakova jumped 14.74 meters to take bronze.

The U.S. has still never won a medal in the women’s triple jump, with it first being added to the women’s program in 1996. But Orji came close to changing that in Rio.
