When Bode Miller signed a four-year contract with an Italian skiwear company last month, it drew many to speculate the six-time Olympic medalist might be considering skiing through the deal and to a sixth Olympics in 2018 -- at age 40.
Miller squashed those thoughts on social media, however.

But in an interview with Graham Bensinger, the most decorated U.S. Alpine skier ever didn’t shut the door all the way. Bensinger asked Miller the likelihood he would ski in the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Games.
“I would say not very good,” Miller said in a sitdown interview. “It’s not completely out of the question, I don’t think. ... I tend to not be surprised by that many things because I tend to not believe things are impossible.”
Miller is expected to ski this season, which he said in April would likely be his last.
Miller became the oldest Olympic Alpine skiing medalist with his shared bronze in the super-G in Sochi after missing all of 2012-13 following knee surgery.
But the season as a whole left him hungry. He was very disappointed not to win the famed Kitzbuehel downhill in Austria in January and to finish eighth in the Olympic downhill. Miller’s form going into both races suggested he could have won.
The World Cup season starts in Soelden, Austria, with a giant slalom in two weeks.
