Eight-time Paralympic medalist Allison Jones will carry the U.S. flag into the Rio Opening Ceremony on Wednesday.
NBCSN will air coverage Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET. A full Paralympic broadcast schedule is here.
Jones, a 32-year-old born without a right femur, will compete in her eighth straight Paralympics in Rio. She has competed in the last three Summer Games in cycling (four career medals) and the last four in Alpine skiing (four career medals). Jones owns medals of every color in both the Summer and Winter Games.
She will lead a U.S. delegation of 289 athletes into the Maracanã on Wednesday.
“Being able to consider ending my Paralympic career with this honor is just amazing,” Jones, chosen for the honor in a vote by Paralympic teammates, said in a press release. “Only one person gets chosen out of almost 300 hundred athletes on the team. That enough people believed in me, my story and my legacy, it’s just a real honor.”
In 2012, five-time U.S. Paralympian and discus thrower Scott Danberg carried the flag into London’s Olympic Stadium in the Opening Ceremony.
