Rotimi

The team now known as the Commanders has also tendered ERFAs DE Bunmi Rotimi and DT Daniel Wise. C Jon Toth was non-tendered. We will treat these as re-signings since the players have no other option, unless they feel like retiring. A 2020 fifth-round pick who was waived and made his way back onto the 53-man roster, Ismael started five games in 2021. Ismael did not embarrass himself. He also did not have the looks of a long-term starter. He does have youth on his side, as he does not turn 24 until July.

Rotimi (6’3/273) was a three-year starter at ODU, manning defensive tackle his first two seasons before shifting to end as a junior and senior. He logged 26.5 career tackles for loss and 19 sacks, earning honorable mention All-Conference USA in 2017. Unfortunately, Rotimi tested as a lowly seventh-percentile athlete at his Pro Day, running a painful 5.05 forty. Rotimi is a long shot to become more than a rotational end-tackle tweener.
