    Phillies released OF Odúbel Herrera.
It’s surprising Herrera lasted as long as he did in Philadelphia, especially this season. The 30-year-old outfielder holds a pedestrian career .271/.326/.419 triple-slash line with 78 homers and 68 steals in 817 games since 2015.

Phillies designated OF Odúbel Herrera for assignment.
This will allow the Phillies to complete their trade for outfielder Brandon Marsh from the Angels. Herrera, 30, was slashing just .238/.279/.378 through 62 games (197 plate appearances) this season.

Odúbel Herrera went 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts Friday against the Pirates.
He was also chewed out for his lack of hustle during the game. There isn’t a whole lot out there for center field options right now, but the Phillies sure could use an upgrade there for the final two months.

Odúbel Herrera is starting in center field and batting nith for the Phillies in Saturday’s contest against the Cubs.
It’s the first start for the 30-year-old outfielder since July 12. In 58 games on the season, Herrera is hitting .243/.283/.393 with five homers, 19 RBI and four stolen bases in 184 plate appearances.

Nick Castellanos is not in the Phillies’ starting lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Marlins.
It appears to be a routine day off for Castellanos, who has started 34 consecutive contests since May 8. The 30-year-old slugger will take a seat on Monday evening with Odúbel Herrera patrolling right field in his place.

Odubel Herrera went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored as the Phillies fell to the Mets on Sunday night.
Herrera led off the third inning with a double off of Chris Bassitt, advanced to third on a walk and then scampered home on a double play ball off the bat of Alec Bohm. Herrera has been pretty productive this season, slashing .270/.298/.494 with three homers, 12 RBI and a stolen base in his first 93 plate appearances.

Odubel Herrera went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI versus the Braves on Thursday.
Herrera has turned in back-to-back multihit games for the first time this season, going 4-for-8 with a homer the last two days. Prior to this, he was hitting just .192/.222/.250 in 54 plate appearances during May.

Odubel Herrera went 2-for-4 and homered against the Braves in Wednesday’s loss.
Herrera’s offense has been fine; he’s batting .257/.282/.486 in 78 plate appearances. His defense has left something to be desired -- especially in tonight’s loss -- but it doesn’t look like the Phillies have any better options in center.

Odubel Herrera was scratched from the Phillies’ lineup Tuesday due to allergies.
Yet another lineup change for Philly. Nick Castellanos was scratched earlier because his wife went into labor. Kyle Schwarber, Roman Quinn, and Matt Vierling will start across the outfield against the visiting Rangers and right-hander Jon Gray on Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park.

Odúbel Herrera homered for the second straight game Wednesday in the Phillies’ win over the Rockies.
Batting leadoff with Jean Segura having a night off, Herrera led off the bottom of the first inning with a 429-foot tank to the upper deck in right field. He drove in another run in the second with a sac fly. Herrera also had a misplay in the outfield which could have been a costly error had Randal Grichuk not made a baserunning blunder which resulted in a forceout. The center fielder has had a hot bat since returning from an oblique strain.
