Lions signed TCU OT Obinna Eze.
Eze (6'7/321) started in 25 consecutive games to end his career with both Memphis and TCU. He’s a relative newcomer to the game of football -- he was not allowed to play varsity football until his senior season in high school. The first thing that comes to mind with Eze is size. He is massive, and he has absurdly long arms, measuring at 36 1/8 inches. That puts him in the 97th percentile of prospects. A former basketball player, Eze is best when he can get out and move in run blocking, whether on pulls or getting to the second level. The physical tools are obvious, but so is the fact that he’s raw technique-wise. Guys of his size also tend to have pad-level issues, which he will need to work on at the next level. As they say, though, technique can be taught, and considering he hasn’t been playing the game for very long, the potential for growth is immense. You can’t teach his absurd length, so Eze has a sky-high ceiling just waiting to be unlocked by the right coach. Even then, his 2021 70.6 PFF grade isn’t bad, so it’s not like he’s starting from scratch either.
