Longtime NHL forward Radek Bonk has announced his retirement from professional hockey, his Czech league club announced on Monday.
Bonk, 38, was Ottawa’s first-round pick (third overall) at the 1994 NHL Entry Draft and spent the majority of his NHL career -- nine seasons -- with the Senators, posting a career-high 70 points in 2001-02 while finishing second on the team in playoff scoring in 2003, pacing Ottawa to within a game of the Stanley Cup Final.
Following his time in Ottawa, Bonk played in Montreal before finishing his career in Nashville in 2009. He spent the last few years playing with HC Ocelari Trinec in the Czech Extraliga.
A two-time All Star, Bonk retires having played the 14th-most games by any Czech player in NHL history.
