Former Vancouver Canucks and Anaheim Ducks forward Jason King retired from hockey on Friday, going from a winger for the AHL’s St. John’s IceCaps to an assistant coach.
The IceCaps are the Winnipeg Jets’ AHL affiliate.
“I’m grateful to the Jets and the IceCaps for this opportunity and I look forward to the challenge,” King said. “It’s particularly gratifying to be able to take this next step here, in my home province.”
King, 31, last played in the NHL in 2007-08, appearing in four games for the Anaheim Ducks. King played in 55 games for the Vancouver Canucks between 2002-03 and 2003-04.
Beyond that, he bounced between the AHL and overseas leagues.
