Jonas Hiller suffered an appendicitis attack in mid-July that resulted in him having a minor procedure.
Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving recently confirmed that this incident shouldn’t be a factor by the time training camp starts.
“The procedure nowadays ... they can do it arthroscopically,” Flames GM Brad Treliving explained, per NHL.com. “They’re saying within nine to 12 days you’re up and back to normal.”
Hiller, 32, is getting ready for his comeback campaign after he fell out of favor with the Anaheim Ducks towards the end of the 2013-14 campaign and during the playoffs. Rookies Frederik Andersen and John Gibson both started in favor of Hiller at various points over the course of Anaheim’s 2014 postseason run.
After that, it was no surprise when Hiller left as an unrestricted free agent. He signed a two-year, $9 million contract with Calgary.
