William Green’s role as a starter could be short-lived with Lee Suggs returning to Browns practice.
If Suggs is able to play this weekend, we’re guessing the team will split carries between the two runners. Follow practice reports this week before making any lineup decisions.
  • CLE Running Back
Coach Butch Davis “would love” to get William Green more involved in the offense, even with Lee Suggs back.
“In retrospect, I wasn’t even truly aware that it had gotten that far out of hand in the second half,” Davis said. Green didn’t have a carry in the second half Sunday and only four for the game. Expect Lee Suggs to carry the ball at least twice as much as Green, although Green will still get work. Don’t drop him.
  • CLE Running Back
William Green will be the starter for Sunday’s game versus Pittsburgh.
Green may start but we look for Lee Suggs to have the better game of the two. Green is still an option as a flex position candidate, though.
  • CLE Running Back
William Green has accepted his running-back-by-committee role in the Cleveland offense.
The Browns didn’t have much use for William Green or Lee Suggs on Sunday. It still looks like Lee Suggs will have far more value long-term.
  • CLE Running Back
Cleveland coach Butch Davis will not announce his starting running back until the first week of the season.
“That clearly won’t happen until the first week of the season,” Davis said. Lee Suggs has pulled ahead, but it’s not over yet.
  • CLE Running Back
The Browns are “concerned” about William Green’s performance the last few weeks.
He fumbled for the second straight week and looks like he’s mailing it in to us. If Lee Suggs were to return, we’d guess Green would not touch the ball much.
  • CLE Running Back
The Browns will take a low-round draft pick for William Green, but few teams seem interested.
They’ll probably release him if they can’t find a deal. Green is a longshot to be a fantasy factor anytime next season.
  • CLE Running Back
William Green carried the ball three times for 23 yards Saturday night.
“I thought Lee Suggs and William Green ran as hard as I have seen them run,” said coach Butch Davis. Green started the game on the field for Cleveland, with Lee Suggs in the slot. He ripped off runs of 10 and 11 yards. Green still has an excellent chance to win the starting job, almost 50/50.
  • CLE Running Back
The RB battle between William Green and Lee Suggs picks up today with a scrimmage versus Buffalo.
No indication yet who’s winning. William Green’s attitude and work ethic are reportedly much improved after his disasterous 2003 season.
  • CLE Running Back
William Green rushed 12 times for 44 yards and a touchdown Saturday.
He also added 22 yards receiving on a quiet night for the Browns offense. Still, Green may need to stand out more than this to pass Reuben Droughns.
