Tyrone Carter suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in the 27-24 loss to the Atlanta.
Carter almost certainly will miss the next preseason game, Friday against San Francisco. He will be re-evaluated today but the team believes he suffered no further damage.
  • LAC Defensive Back
Vikings released defensive back Tyrone Carter off the injured reserve.

  • LAC Defensive Back
    Steelers signed safety Tyrone Carter.
He replaces Mike Logan, who is out for the year with a hamstring injury.
  • PIT Defensive Back #43
Steelers SS Troy Polamalu (knee) is listed as doubtful for Week 13.
He returned to some light drills Friday, but Tyrone Carter will likely make another start. Carter recorded 12 tackles (11 solo) in Week 12 versus Miami.
  • LAC Defensive Back
Tyrone Carter will continue to start in place of Anthony Smith at free safety, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin confirmed Monday.
Smith “is letting the ball get behind him,” Tomlin noted. Smith wasn’t a great cover safety coming out of Syracuse and his confidence has to be shaken after his guarantee blunder. Carter made only three tackles in Week 16.
  • PIT Defensive Back #43
Steelers S Troy Polamalu (knee sprain) is being called doubtful for Week 12.
The Steelers were surprisingly run on by the Jets in Week 11 and will likely be without the hard hitting safety against the Dolphins, giving Jesse Chatman a bump up in value this week. Tyrone Carter would start in his place.
  • PIT Defensive Back #43
Steelers S Troy Polamalu is unlikely to play against the Patriots.
Polamalu developed swelling in his injured knee early in the week and was unable to practice on Thursday or Friday. Special teamer Tyrone Carter will fill in at strong safety. Not having arguably its best defensive player will hurt Pittsburgh’s chances of upsetting undefeated New England.
  • LAC Defensive Back
Steelers FS Tyrone Carter will start on Thursday night.
The veteran will replace second-year man Anthony Smith (he of the “We will beat the Patriots” guarantee) after Pittsburgh allowed three passes of over 50 yards in the last two games, with Smith being involved in each one.
  • LAC Defensive Back
The Vikings signed cornerback Tyrone Carter.
Carter, who had a decent year starting ten games for the Jets last season, adds more depth to the Vikings secondary. The team could release cornerback Denard Walker soon.
