Mekhi Becton (right leg) was seen “limping for much of [Eagles] practice” before leaving early.
The report comes from ESPN’s Tim McManus. The fact that Becton was allowed to continue practicing for some time despite the evident limp could indicate the team is managing a known issue but it’s a negative development overall. Becton projects to start in place of injured OG Tyler Steen (ankle) at least in the short term. Becton plays with a brace on his right knee, stemming from a pair of kneecap injuries. He suffered cartilage damage following a 2021 kneecap dislocation. The same kneecap then suffered an avulsion fracture one year later. The issues could provide grounds for routine soreness moving forward but we will monitor the situation for updates.

Eagles HC Nick Sirianni said OG Tyler Steen will miss some time with an ankle injury.
Steen is projected to start at right guard for the Eagles this season. The second-year player reportedly injured his ankle at Saturday’s practice and will miss a few days with the injury. Former No. 11 overall pick Mekhi Becton, who is hoping to break camp with the Eagles this offseason, is expected to see some work in place of Steen, which could go a long way in determining whether or not he lands on the 53-man roster.
  • PHI Tackle #56
The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane reports Eagles rookie Tyler Steen is working with the starters at right guard.
The Eagles selected Steen with the No. 65 pick in last year’s draft. He played sparingly last season, appearing on just 71 offensive snaps over four games. Steen started every game at left tackle during his final season at Alabama, but with both tackle positions currently solidified in Philly, Steen has a chance to move to the interior and win a starting job heading into his second season with Sua Opeta now in Tampa Bay.
  • PHI Tackle #56
Eagles selected Alabama OL Tyler Steen with the No. 65 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Steen (6’6/321) was a 3-star recruit, and the 112th-ranked offensive tackle in the 2018 recruiting class, from Miami, Florida, according to 247 Sports. A converted defensive lineman, Steen is a large immovable force in the run game. Once he gets rumbling, little remains standing in his wake. An experienced tackle with 36 starts in the SEC, Steen has enjoyed good durability and position flex. Due to his lack of athleticism, pass blocking can be an issue when he can’t simply overpower an opponent. Although he put on 20 pounds when he transferred to Alabama, he may benefit from dropping at least some of that weight to combat his heavy feet. However, for a team with a run focus and a scheme that values play in a phone booth, Steen will be a fit and a developmental piece.

Former Vanderbilt junior LT Tyler Steen has several high-profile visits lined up in coming weeks.
Steen (6'5/315) entered the transfer portal in mid-January, and has quickly become a hot commodity over the last several weeks. His father shared with 247Sports.com that Steen has visits setup with Alabama, NC State, LSU and Penn State and that UCLA, USC and Kentucky may also be in the future. Steen is a native of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and was a three-star recruit from the 2018 class. He has come a long way since joining Vanderbilt, playing on over 2,200 snaps since 2019 per Pro Football Focus while allowing just 34 quarterback pressures and 11 sacks on 1,262 passing down snaps. Steen appears to be heading to a top program somewhere in 2022, now we will wait to see which one he lands with.
