Former Charlotte LB Tyler Murray will transfer to Memphis.
Murray (6'2"/215) will enroll in the third program of his collegiate career. The 2017 two-star recruit started as DB for Troy in 2017, then transferred to Charlotte as a LB, and now will go to Memphis. Murray had a very successful tenure at Charlotte as he became the leader of that defense. He was named a Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, in 2020 was named to the Reese’s Senior Bowl before deciding to return to Charlotte, and led the team with 41 solo tackles and tied with 1.5 sacks in 2021. Memphis should be excited to get a talented veteran like Murray.

Troy junior DB Tyler Murray will transfer.
Murray (6'1/209) saw playing time right out of the box as a true freshman in 2017, appearing in 13 games while recording 10 tackles with an interception. He stepped up to start 12 contests at “spear” -- Troy’s hybrid linebacker/defensive back position -- during the past campaign. For the past campaign, Murray logged 48 tackles (5.5 for loss), three interceptions, five passes defensed and a fumble forced. His efforts earned him third-team All-Sun Belt recognition when all was said and done. Murray did not make reference to a graduate transfer in his farewell post on social media and will presumably have to sit out the fall campaign should he move on to another FBS outfit. He currently has two years of eligibility remaining to his fair name.
