Troy Bienemann, an undrafted player who graduated in 2006, has been running with the first-team offense at Cardinals practice.
Bienemann tore his ACL in his final college game, then tore it again in Saints camp last year. With rookie Ben Patrick hurt, Bieneman has been in the first-team offense with Leonard Pope and impressed. He may make the team, but the Cardinals TEs remain hands-off in fantasy leagues.
  • FA Tight End #88
Leonard Pope and Troy Bienemann were the Cardinals’ starters in a two-tight end set during the team’s workout Wednesday.
Rookie Ben Patrick (hamstring) has missed roughly 20 practices. The Cards are expected to explore the waiver wire after June 1 for a veteran tight end to pair with Pope. Stephen Alexander is one name that could be available.
  • FA Tight End
Cardinals signed seventh-round TE Ben Patrick to a three-year contract.
The D-IAA Delaware alum is a decent athlete with good hands and blocking ability. If he can shake a nagging hamstring pull in time for training camp, Patrick should be able to pass Troy Bienemann to be Leonard Pope’s top backup. The Cards are too thin at tight end for Patrick not to make the team.
  • ARI Tight End
The Cardinals will use a “tight end-by-committee-type” approach to open the season, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt.
Troy Bienemann is listed as Arizona’s top backup behind starter Leonard Pope. Tim Euhus is third. Don’t expect any fantasy value from the rotation.
  • FA Tight End
Cardinals rookie TE Ben Patrick (hamstring) isn’t expected to participate in any of the team’s upcoming OTAs.
Arizona signed Steelers castoff Tim Euhus to pick up reps along with starter Leonard Pope and Troy Bienemann. Patrick remains sidelined indefinitely.
  • ARI Tight End
Troy Bienemann reportedly has a legitimate chance to open the season as the Cardinals’ starting tight end.
He’s battling Leonard Pope, who should win the competition, but if Pope doesn’t improve as a blocker and Bienemann is effective in that area, things will change. Neither player is worth consideration in shallow fantasy leagues.
  • FA Tight End
Rookie Ben Patrick and Troy Bienemann will assume tight end duties in Arizona following Leonard Pope’s season ending ankle injury.
Patrick will likely see more action in the passing game while Bienemann stays focused on blocking, although neither is worth adding in 12-team leagues. The Cards will sign Tim Euhus when Pope is placed on I.R.
  • FA Tight End #88
Leonard Pope left Sunday’s game with a sprained ankle and was immediately declared out for the final quarter.
Pope had four catches for 16 yards before departing. His status for Week 15 against New Orleans is uncertain. Rookie Ben Patrick recently overtook Troy Bienemann as Pope’s primary backup at tight end.
  • ARI Tight End
    Cardinals waived/injured TE Troy Bienemann.
Bienemann was unable to practice because of a stress fracture in his foot.
  • ARI Tight End
Cardinals signed exclusive rights free agent TE Troy Bienemann, CB Michael Adams, and WR Jamaica Rector.
Bienemann is a solid blocking tight end, but will likely have to battle for a roster spot, just like Adams and Rector.
