    Bears waived RB Trestan Ebner.
The offseason acquisitions of D’Onta Foreman and Travis Homer, in addition to the selection Roschon Johnson in the fourth round of this year’s draft, made Ebner obsolete in the Chicago backfield. The addition of return specialist Trent Taylor sealed the deal for Ebner, paving the way for the team to waive him with an injury settlement.

Trestan Ebner rushed six times for 20 yards in the Bears’ loss against the Giants, adding two receptions for an additional eight yards.
Ebner served as Khalil Herbert’s primary backup and earned some quality touches. Interestingly enough, he saw three targets to Herbert’s one. Other than that, Ebner was there to spell Herbert. He will continue to be the Bears’ RB2 as long as David Montgomery is out.

Bears RB Trestan Ebner ran seven times for 23 yards in Chicago’s Week 3 win over the Texans.
He was a clear change-up back to Khalil Herbert and engaged in the series-splitting that Chicago has been trying. His one pass target and five of his seven carries came on one second-quarter series that ended in a field goal. Ebner has no stand-alone value, but is worth monitoring depending on the fallout from David Montgomery’s (knee/ankle).injury.

Bears RB Trestan Ebner (ankle) remained sideliend.
Ebner was injured in last Thursday’s preseason game and has now missed a week. It is possible he is dealing with a high-ankle sprain, though even a garden-variety ankle ailment could easily be a week-plus issue in the camp environment. Both David Montgomery and Khalil Herbert should be healthy to begin the year, keeping Ebner’s value limited to Dynasty leagues.

Bears RB Trestan Ebner (ankle) left the first half of Thursday’s preseason game against the Seahawks.
Ebner suffered his injury late in the first half and was being evaluated by trainers on the sideline. It’s a good sign that he was able to walk off the field under his own power, but the rookie running back was on the sidelines to begin the second half. In fairness, the plan may have been for Ebner to only play in the first half, after he saw nine carries for 29 yards through two quarters -- leading the team. Ebner’s popularity within the fantasy community has grown in recent weeks, but it’s likely he opens the season as the third back on Chicago’s depth chart.

Bears selected Baylor RB Trestan Ebner with the No. 203 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
A five-year contributor, Ebner (5'11/206) only carried the ball 343 times in total during his time in Waco, but he amassed a 127-1,515-11 career receiving line with at least 20 receptions every season and has three kick return touchdowns on his resume. He ran an excellent 4.43 40 at the Combine, but he posted a 30-inch vertical in Indy, a 9-foot-7 broad at his Pro Day, and struggled in agility drills. Despite his rushing production increasing last year, Ebner’s path to playing time in the NFL will be as the pass-catching half of a backfield committee, but he will likely need to improve as a blocker to get that chance. The good news is his ability as a returner should earn him a roster spot and some time to develop.

Baylor RB Trestan Ebner has privately worked out for the Ravens, Saints, and Eagles, according to PFN’s Tony Pauline.
Ebner (6'0/206), a receiver in high school who projects as an NFL third-down back, ran a 4.43 at the NFL Combine. Pauline, who gives Ebner a sixth-round grade, wrote that “Ebner’s size and style are a perfect fit for the Eagles.”

Baylor junior RB Trestan Ebner rushed 13 times for 39 yards, and caught four passes for 118 yards and one touchdown in Saturday’s 27-24 win over Texas Tech.
Ebner’s (6'0/188) day got started with a 61-yard yard touchdown pass from Blake Shapen to give the Bears an early 7-0 lead, as he went on catch three more passes on the afternoon for another 58 yards. Ebner has been a reliable pass-catcher for the Bears all season, having racked up 25 receptions for 257 yards and two touchdowns in addition to his 748 rushing yards. Ebner and Baylor may be on their way to a conference championship game if Oklahoma State can get the win over Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon.

  • FA Running Back #25
Baylor junior RB Trestan Ebner rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries in a 20-10 victory over Kansas State on Saturday afternoon.
Early on against the Wildcats, Ebner (6'0/188) showed his speed and athleticism. On his touchdown run on the second drive of the game, Ebner took an outside zone run to the right and snapped a cut upfield for an easy score. Throughout the game, he flashed his speed and athleticism, including a 31-yard run at the end of the game where he bursts around the right end. The Bears have set themselves up in prime position to make a New Years Six bowl and the Big 12 Title Game, and they can take one more step towards those goals next Saturday against Texas Tech.

Baylor junior RB Trestan Ebner (ankle) is looking doubtful to play against Oklahoma State on Saturday.
Ebner (6'0/188) only carried seven times for just one yard and caught two passes for 10 yards before departing in a 27-14 loss to Oklahoma on Saturday. If he is unable to play it would be a tough loss for a Baylor rushing attack that only gained 25 yards on 26 carries against OU. Jonah White filled in for Ebner after he left, rushing three times for 18 yards while also leading the Bears in receiving with nine catches for 63 yards. Expect to see a heavy dose of White against Oklahoma State this Saturday.
