    Bills released DB Tre Herndon.
Herndon took preseason snaps with both the Bills and Colts this month. He spent the 2018-2023 seasons with the Jaguars, after signing on with them as an undrafted free agent. Herndon will look to catch on as secondary depth somewhere ahead of the season, perhaps on a practice squad.
  • FA Cornerback #42
    Colts released CB Tre Herndon.
Herndon was unable to secure a spot after the team signed him in late July. The Colts correspondingly signed OT Marcellus Johnson, RB Nay’Quan Wright and CB J.J. Mayes.
  • IND Cornerback
Colts signed CB Duke Shelley, formerly of the Giants.
Indy signed fellow CB Tre Herndon as well. David Long Jr. was placed on injured reserve and fantasy folk hero Albert Okwuegbunam was cut in a pair of corresponding moves. Shelley was drafted by the Bears in 2019 and got some run as a nickel corner. He later posted an impressive season with eight psas breakups and one intercpetion with Minnesota in 2022. Shelley has since struggled to earn playing time on other teams and will be fighting for a roster spot this summer.
  • NYG Cornerback #37
Giants signed CB Tre Herndon, formerly of the Jaguars, to a one-year, $1.1 million contract.
Herndon joined the Jags as a UDFA in 2018 and has been with the team ever since. The team brought him back for multiple one-year deals before letting him walk this offseason. Herndon logged nine pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one TFL as a part-time player in 2023. He has also held a role on special teams throughout his career. Herndon will compete for the primary nickel corner job in New York and will also see work on special teams.
  • JAC Defensive Back #32
Jaguars CB Tyson Campbell (hamstring) will not play in Week 14 against the Browns.
Campbell has struggled with the hamstring injury over the past two months, playing in just two games over the past seven weeks. Slot corner Tre Herndon is also out for this game because of a concussion. The undermanned Jaguars defense doesn’t know which Cleveland quarterback it will face on Sunday yet. If it’s Joe Flacco, Elijah Moore and possibly Amari Cooper will be solid fantasy options.
  • FA Defensive Back #38
Jaguars re-signed CB Tre Herndon to a one-year, $2.6 million contract.
Herndon has 67 appearances with 30 starts over the last five seasons. He’s had a backup role the past two years, playing 40% of defensive snaps and 16% on special teams. Herndon could see a larger role in 2023 after the release of CB Shaq Griffin.

  • FA Defensive Back #38
CBS Sports’ Josina reports the Falcons, 49ers, and Giants “have shown preliminary interest” in CB Tre Herndon.
According to Anderson, Herndon “is not returning to Jacksonville”. After spending five seasons with the Jaguars, Herndon, a former undrafted free agent from the 2018 class, should have some value as added depth in the secondary. He saw significant work as a slot corner during the final five weeks of the regular season.

  • FA Defensive Back #38
    Jaguars re-signed CB Tre Herndon.
Herndon will return for a fifth season with Jacksonville as a special teams player an occasional secondary contributor. Herndon, 26, hasn’t recorded an interception since 2019, when he had three picks for the Jags.
