Jaguars signed fifth-round CB Trae Williams to a four-year contract. The deal includes a signing bonus in the $170,000 range.
Williams was the lesser known half of USF’s ultra talented CB duo, with Dallas first-rounder Mike Jenkins his bookend. He’s small and may never be a legit outside option, but may grow into a playmaking nickel back in time.
  • NO Wide Receiver
Jaguars waived WR D’Juan Woods, CB Rashod Moulton, DB Trae Williams, TE Chris Brown, DE Mkristo Bruce, OT Andrew Carnahan, and TE Charles Davis.
Carnahan was a draft pick in 2007 and Williams was the Jags’ seventh-round choice this year. Woods couldn’t beat out Troy Williams for a roster spot.
  • BUF Defensive Back
Steelers signed CB Trae Williams off the Seahawks’ practice squad.
A fifth-round pick by the Jags in 2008, Williams played opposite Mike Jenkins at South Florida. He’ll take Keenan Lewis’ spot on the roster.
  • BUF Defensive Back
Eagles signed CB Trae Williams to a reserve/future contract.
Williams played opposite Mike Jenkins, Dallas’ 2008 first-round pick, at South Florida. He’ll try to make the 2009 roster as a sub-package corner.
  • BUF Defensive Back
Buccaneers signed CB Trae Williams and waived CB Darrell Pascoe.
Williams was a fifth-round pick by the Jags in 2008 after he played opposite Mike Jenkins at South Florida. He’s a longshot to make the final roster.
  • BUF Defensive Back
Steelers waived CB Trae Williams, LB Derrick Doggett, K Piotr Czech, WR Jason Chery, P Adam Graessle, NT Cordarrow Thompson, and C Bradley Vierling.
The team is clearing up space for rookie signings. Williams was signed off the Seahawks practice squad to add depth late last season. A special teams hopeful, Doggett was no longer needed with three linebackers picked up in the draft.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #77
Bucs waived DE James Ruffin, C Donovan Raiola, CB Derrick Roberson, and CB Trae Williams.
Ruffin was a big-time pass rusher at Northern Iowa, but lacks NFL-caliber athleticism. The rest of the players here are annual camp fodder.
