    Cardinals released RB Tony Jones.
Arizona claimed Jones off waivers last week after the Saints cut him. He was brought in as a depth option for the Cardinals with James Conner on injured reserve and Keaontay Ingram working his way back from a neck injury. Ingram suited up and the Cardinals made Jones a healthy scratch.

The Cardinals declared S Jalen Thompson, RB Tony Jones Jr., LB Jesse Luketa, OL Keith Ismael, OL Carter O’Donnell and TE Elijah Higgins inactive for their Week 6 game against the Rams.
Looking pretty healthy, the Cardinals will look to upset the Rams on the road. Despite being 1-4, the Cardinals are a pesky team that takes it to every opponent. Josh Dobbs looks to continue having his coming out party.

Cardinals claimed RB Tony Jones off waivers.
Jones filled in for the Saints earlier this season while Alvin Kamara was suspended and Jamaal Williams was injured. Now, with Kamara back and rookie Kendre Miller also available, Jones was waived by the Saints on Saturday. Now, he’ll report to Arizona, who lost James Conner to a knee injury in Sunday’s loss to the Bengals. Jones has totaled 91 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns on 25 touches this season, averaging an underwhelming 3.6 yards per touch. His best path to fantasy success is a volume-based role while Conner is sidelined, although both are far from a lock at this point.

Tony Jones rushed eight times for 31 yards in the Saints’ Week 3 loss to the Packers, catching four passes for 21 additional yards.
Jones saw most of his work early in the day, operating as the Saints’ “lead back.” He saw 12 opportunities to Kendre Miller’s 10, and broke off a 19-yard run in the second quarter to help setup a Blake Grupe field goal. Jones will work behind Alvin Kamara in Week 4 when the Saints take on the Buccaneers, with Kamara set to return from his three-game suspension. Jones has little to no upside as a bench stash and can be dropped in all formats.

Saints coach Dennis Allen said Jamaal Williams (hamstring) “will take some time” to recover.
Williams will miss the Saints’ Week 3 game against the Packers. It sounds like he will miss multiple games after that as well. The backfield will be left to Tony Jones and Kendre Miller in Week 3. Jones knows Pete Carmichael’s system well and will likely get the start, though Miller should see plenty of touches in his debut.
  • NO Running Back #25
Kendre Miller (hamstring) was a full participant in Thursday’s practice.
Barring any setbacks, Miller appears ready for his NFL debut, which will come in Week 3 against the Packers. The dual-threat running back has dealt with knee and hamstring injuries over the last month, and was sidelined for the first two games as a result of those injuries. Now healthy, it’s possible Miller serves as the Saints’ RB1 with Jamaal Williams (hamstring) expected to be sidelined for the next several weeks. Veteran Tony Jones could split snaps with Miller, but Miller is the far more explosive option. Fantasy managers who have been waiting to start Miller should do so with caution in his first week. We wouldn’t recommend playing him outside of deeper leagues.

Saints promoted RB Tony Jones Jr. to the active roster.
Jones Jr. was elevated from the practice squad before Sunday’s game to replace an injured Kendre Miller this week. With Jamaal Williams now injured, Jones Jr. will get his shot on the active roster even with Miller healthy. While many fantasy managers are excited about the prospect of Miller getting more work, Jones Jr. has been with the Saints longer and looked good on Sunday, particularly in pass protection. The two could split work on Sunday before Alvin Kamara returns to take over the backfield in Week 4.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports Kendre Miller (hamstring) is expected to be a “full go” at practice this week and will play in Week 3 against the Packers.
Barring a setback to his hamstring in practice, Miller should make his pro debut against Green Bay. It comes just in times, as the Saints lost Jamaal Williams to a seemingly serious hamstring injury in Week 2 and Alvin Kamara (suspension) remains sidelined. Look for Miller to split the Week 3 backfield workload with Tony Jones. Against the Panthers on Monday night, Jones had 34 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.

Tony Jones rushed 12 times for 34 yards and two touchdowns in the Saints’ Week 2 win over the Panthers.
Jones was called up from the team’s practice squad to replace an injured Kendre Miller this week. Jamaal Williams drew the start but went down with a hamstring injury in the second quarter. That left Jones as the only other running back on the Saints’ game-day roster. Jones took advantage of the extra reps and punched in a pair of two-yard touchdowns. If Miller and Williams are both unable to play in Week 3, Jones will likely draw the start. He would rank as an RB3/4 versus the Packers.

Jamaal Williams (hamstring) is questionable to return in Week 2 against the Panthers.
Williams was listed as questionable to return with a hamstring injury after going to the locker room. He went down with the injury during the second quarter and immediately went into the blue medical tent. He eventually left the tent, only to walk to the locker room. Tony Jones is the only other active running back on the Saints roster tonight.
