Illinois DB Tony Adams ran a 4.34 40-yard dash at his Pro Day.
Adams (5'11"/202) didn’t just run a quick 40, he also had a 10'11" broad jump, a 41.5" vertical and a 4.04 shuttle. Those are all top percentile numbers, showing some extreme athleticism. Pro Day numbers tend to be a bit inflated, but even if those numbers go down a bit they are still elite. Adams has experience all across the secondary, having played pretty much every position in his five seasons.

Illinois senior DB Tony Adams is returning for the 2021 season.
The NCAA is allowing players to take an extra year of eligibility due to COVID, and Adams (6'0/200) is taking full advantage of that ruling. A three-year contributor for the Illinois defense, Adams is a staple in the back end. In each of the past three years, Adams has earned at least 39 tackles and an interception. He even returned a pick-six back in 2019. Keeping a player of Adams’ experience around should go a long way for Illinois next season.

Illinois junior S Tony Adams (undisclosed) has been ruled out for Monday’s Redbox Bowl against Cal.
Adams (6'0/200) also missed the team’s final regular season game against Northwestern. Adams finished this year with two interceptions, good for second on the team. Expect Adams to be back in 2020 as one of the team’s top defensive playmakers.

Illinois junior S Tony Adams will not return to Saturday’s game at UConn after suffering an upper body injury during the third quarter.
Adams (6'0/200) was injured while delivering a hit to a UConn wide receiver early in the third quarter. After spending some time down on the turf, the junior safety was helped to his feet by team trainers and taken to the team’s injury tent. Illinois’ secondary depth has taken some hits Saturday, as Stanley Green was ejected in the first half for targeting.
