Jaguars signed S Terrell Edmunds, formerly of the Titans.
Edmunds was traded from the Eagles to the Titans last season and totaled 48 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one interception while splitting time with the two teams. The former first-round pick was let go by the Steelers after his rookie contract expired at the end of the 2022 season and is now set to play for his third team in two years. He’ll have a chance to provide added depth to the Jaguars’ secondary but is unlikely to be viewed as a starter at this point. In addition to Edmunds, they also signed cornerback Tre Flowers and linebacker Ty Summers.
  • TEN Safety #26
Titans acquired S Terrell Edmunds and draft picks from the Eagles in exchange for S Kevin Byard.
Edmunds joined the Eagles on a one-year deal earlier this offseason and will likely be a free agent next offseason. The veteran safety previously played for the Steelers (2018-2022), but wasn’t asked to return once his contract expired. In six games with the Eagles this season, Edmunds has drawn three starts while playing on 296 defensive snaps. He’s be targeted 10 times and allowed 101 receiving yards this season while earning a PFF coverage grade of 58.5. A solid tackler who has excelled in run stopping this season, Edmunds will look to string together a solid few weeks for the Titans in hopes of earning a new contract next season.
  • FA Safety #38
Eagles signed S Terrell Edmunds, formerly of the Steelers, to a one-year contract.
Edmunds is likely to take over the role vacated by C.J. Gardner-Johnson after he left for the Lions on a one-year contract. A former first-round pick by the Steelers in 2018, Edmunds has appeared in 15 or more games through his first five seasons in the league but has struggled at times in pass coverage. He allowed a career-high four receiving touchdowns last season while opposing receivers have converted 67.2 percent of their targets into receptions when facing him.

  • FA Safety #38
Steelers declared S Terrell Edmunds, CB Ahkello Witherspoon, QB Mason Rudolph, G Kendrick Green, DE Isaiahh Loudermilk, ILB Mark Robinson, and WR Gunner Olszewski inactive for Week 5 against the Bills.
Edmunds is still working his way back from the concussion he suffered in Week 4 versus the Jets. Before going down, Edmunds had played on nearly every defensive snap for the Steelers.

  • FA Safety #38
Steelers S Terrell Edmunds (concussion) will not return in Week 4 against the Jets.
Edmunds went down after a hard collision in the first half. He left the field under his own power but was ruled out shortly after his exit. Edmunds will enter concussion protocol ahead of the team’s Week 5 matchup with the Bills.

  • PIT Safety #23
Steelers signed DB Damontae Kazee to a one-year contract.
Pittsburgh added both Kazee and re-signed Terrell Edmunds, giving them a pair of veterans to compete for the starting safety spot opposite Minkah Fitzpatrick. The Kazee signing likely means fewer early-down snaps for Edmunds, who struggled against the run while playing 98% of defensive snaps last year.

  • FA Safety #38
    Steelers re-signed S Terrell Edmunds to a one-year, $2.5 million contract.
The Steelers were said to be in the market for Tyrann Mathieu, but they ultimately opt to bring back a familiar face. The former No. 28 overall pick, Edmunds is still just 25 years old and theoretically should be entering the prime of his career. He just didn’t have much of a market and will look to get another crack at free agency next offseason.

  • FA Safety #38
Speaking Sunday, Steelers GM Kevin Colbert noted that the team has “starting-caliber players” at 24 of 25 positions.
The vacancy, per Colbert, is at strong safety. Terrell Edmunds remains available past the first few waves of free agency. Tyrann Mathieu is also still on the open market. The Steelers have a little over $15 million in cap space per Over The Cap, so this is probably something that will get solved before training camp.

  • FA Safety #38
Steelers declined S Terrell Edmunds’ fifth-year team option for 2022.
Edmunds had his best statistical season in 2020, as well as his highest PFF grade, but the Steelers did not see enough improvement after his underwhelming 2018-19. With fifth-year options now fully guaranteed, teams are not going to exercise them just because. Edmunds does still have youth and durability on his side. He has missed only one game in three years and just turned 24 in January. It is still possible he plays himself into a second deal in Pittsburgh.

  • PIT Linebacker #98
Steelers DC Keith Butler said Vince Williams will start at inside linebacker.
Williams faded into a part-time role last year, but he’ll return to starting next to Devin Bush with Mark Barron gone. He’s unlikely to see many snaps in sub-packages. The Steelers may use SS Terrell Edmunds as their dime linebacker.
