  • SF Wide Receiver #88
49ers signed WR Terrace Marshall, formerly of the Panthers, to the practice squad.
The former second-round wide receiver gets the chance at a fresh start with new scenery in San Francisco. Even so, he’ll face an uphill battle to earn a spot on the 53-man game day roster for a team that held seven wide receivers through roster cuts Tuesday. Marshall has managed 767 yards on 64 receptions with one touchdown through three professional seasons in Carolina.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #17
Panthers head coach Dave Canales said WR Xavier Legette avoided a broken foot.
Legette will be sidelined this week after hurting his foot Sunday during practice. It’s a tough break for the rookie, who is widely considered raw and in need of practice and game action. Legette could be an afterthought to start the regular season if his foot injury lingers well into the preseason. Terrace Marshall could have an outside shot to functioning as a top-three wideout alongside Adam Thielen and Diontae Johnson if Legette misses an extended period.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #88
Panthers declared WR Terrace Marshall, CB CJ Henderson, OL Eku Leota, OT Ricky Lee, WR Mike Strachan and DE Chris Wormley inactive for Week 16 against the Packers.
Marshall will be fighting for his 53-man roster spot in the offseason.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #88
Panthers declared WR Terrace Marshall, CB D’Shawn Jamison, OLB Eku Leota, OT David Sharpe, TE Ian Thomas, and WR Mike Strachan inactive for Week 15 against the Falcons.
Marshall is a healthy scratch as has been the case for a few weeks. The Panthers only have four active receivers today. Don’t expect much passing volume for Bryce Young as the Panthers play in a downpour in Charlotte.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #88
Panthers WR Terrace Marshall is inactive for Week 12 vs the Titans.
Marshall is a healthy scratch for the second straight week. Also inactive are RB Raheem Blackshear, CB CJ Henderson, OT Ricky Lee, and TE Hayden Hurst.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #88
Panthers WR Terrace Marshall is a healthy scratch for Week 11 against the Cowboys.
Marshall has apparently fallen behind Laviska Shenault in the targets mix. Marshall is on a Denzel Mims-esque career trajectory. Joining Marshall on the sideline are CB CJ Henderson, OT Ricky Lee, OG Nash Jensen, TE Hayden Hurst and EDGE Marquis Haynes.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #88
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports Panthers WR Terrace Marshall was given permission to seek a trade.
Much like fantasy managers, Marshall is tired of waiting for his breakout. The former second-round pick has 16 receptions for 114 yards this season, which includes a 9/56 line on 10 targets in Week 4, but played on a season-low 32 percent of snaps in Week 6. He totaled 28 receptions for 490 yards and one touchdown last season but hast yet to earn a significant role through his first three seasons. The team will reportedly welcome him back if he’s unable to find a trade partner, but he could soon be leaving for greener pastures.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #88
Terrace Marshall caught 9-of-10 targets for 56 yards in the Panthers’ Week 4 loss to the Panthers.
With Jonathan Mingo out because of a concussion, Marshall took over as the Panthers’ No. 2 receiver for this game. He made the most of the extra routes with career-highs in targets and catches. Marshall will go back to the bench when Mingo returns in Week 4, but his performance versus the Vikings could earn him a few extra reps going forward.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #88
Panthers WR Terrace Marshall (back) was removed from the Week 1 injury report and will play against the Falcons.
Marshall was limited in practice earlier in the week but was cleared for action on Friday. With DJ Chark ruled out, Marshall is likely the next man up in three-receiver sets. Adam Thielen is listed as questionable. If he can’t play, Marshall and Jonathan Mingo would be in line for notable target shares.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #88
Panthers WR Terrace Marshall (back) was limited in Thursday’s practice.
Marshall has practiced in a limited capacity each of the last two days, and is trending toward being active in Week 1 when the Panthers take on the Falcons. If he’s active, Marshall could be in line for ample playing time as DJ Chark (hamstring) has yet to practice this week, and Adam Thielen (ankle) missed Thursday’s practice. If Marshall is able to go, he’ll be hard to trust as anything more than a desperation play in deeper leagues.
