Falcons hired Bears senior defensive assistant Ted Monachino as OLBs coach.
The Colts’ defensive coordinator in 2016-17, Monachino worked under new Falcons DC Dean Pees in Baltimore. The Falcons have also hired University of Maryland DC Jon Hoke as DBs coach. New coach Arthur Smith has put together an experienced staff.

Colts hired Ravens LBs coach Ted Monachino as defensive coordinator.
The Ravens’ linebackers coach since 2010, Monachino worked alongside Chuck Pagano in 2010-11. The Ravens’ defense is coming off an uninspiring season, but put the clamps on the run. Pagano clearly wanted someone he’s comfortable with instead of an “outside hire,” so to speak. It could be further indication Pagano plans to take on a more active role in coordinating. The main defensive issue in Indy remains talent.

FOX Sports’ Alex Marvez reports Ravens LBs coach Ted Monachino is a “strong candidate” for the Colts’ defensive-coordinator vacancy.
Monachino, 49, was last a defensive coordinator for Hannibal (MO) high school back in 1995. He’s coached the Jaguars’ defensive line (2006-2009) and Ravens’ linebackers (2010-present) for the past 10 years. Monachino was linked to the Eagles’ DC job back when Chip Kelly was hired, but he stayed put. Monachino and Chuck Pagano coached together in Baltimore.
