While second-round rookie Dwayne Jarrett had a seven-yard catch, Drew Carter didn’t make the box score despite starting and seeing the first two targets of the game. Special teamer Taye Biddle continued to prove himself a budding big-play specialist with a 35-yard reception. Colbert remains the favorite to be Carolina’s No. 2 receiver on opening day.

Biddle, who was released to make room for Jeremiah Trotter, had been claimed from the Panthers on Sunday.

Ryne Robinson also had a nice night, catching 2 passes for 41 yards, returning four kicks for a total of 80 yards, and a punt for 11 yards.

Drew Carter led Carolina in receiving on Friday, but his dropped passes could cost him the opening-day gig. The paper expects either Dwayne Jarrett or Ryne Robinson to be the fourth receiver, with Taye Biddle No. 6.

Despite a solid camp, Biddle lost his spot to Chris Horn, who was out of football last year.

Madison is an undersized special teamer. Baye flashed receiving ability in the preseason but probably won’t be counted on to have a huge impact.

Jon Gruden can never get too many wideouts on his offseason roster. Biddle has bounced around since going undrafted in 2006, but has the wheels to be a return specialist. Heinrich was on the Bucs’ practice squad last year.

Biddle has developed irritation in a metal plate that was inserted into his finger after he was shot in the hand during a botched robbery attempt in January. He’s a deep longshot to make the Giants this season.

The lanky speedster was trying to stick around as a gunner.

Biddle has been let go by both the Bucs and Panthers in the past year.
