UCF senior CB Tay Gowan has opted out of the 2020 season over COVID-19 concerns.
Gowan (6'2/185) is one of two projected starters on the defensive side of the football to opt out, with the other being junior DT Kalia Davis. Both players made nine starts for the Knights last season, with Gowan tallying 31 total tackles (22 solo), two interceptions, eight pass breakups and one forced fumble. Davis was responsible for 27 total tackles (14 solo, 8.0 for loss), three sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Six of the ten UCF players that have opted out are from the defense, including defensive backs Devunte Dawson and Elijah Benoit and defensive linemen Mason Cholewa and Kendrick Wilson.
