Packers selected Georgia Tech S Tariq Carpenter with the No. 228 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Carpenter (6'2/225) was a four-year starter at Georgia Tech, totaling four career interceptions and 17 pass breakups in the process. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky noted that, at his size, he could move to inside linebacker, which NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein also noted in his breakdown of Carpenter. No matter what defensive position he takes on, Carpenter’s value will ultimately come on special teams early in his career.
