Tanner Hudson caught his only target for 11 yards n the Bengals’ Week 18 win over the Steelers.
Hudson ends his second season with the Bengals with 19 receptions for 154 yards and one touchdown. The 30-year-old will be a free agent at the end of the season, and likely is looking at playing a similar role with a new team or potentially a return to the Bengals. Even at the tight end position there’s no reason to think he’ll ever see the amount of targets necessary to consider him as a fantasy player, but he does provide real-life value as a blocker.
  • CIN Tight End #89
Drew Sample caught 4-of-4 targets for 14 yards and a touchdown in the Bengals’ Week 9 win over the Raiders.
Sample matched his season catch total with four against the Raiders. He caught a two-yard touchdown while none of his receptions were longer than five yards. The Bengals’ offense saw heavy focus on tight ends, with Tanner Hudson catching 2-of-3 passes for 14 yards and Erick All catching two passes before exiting due to injury. However, Mike Gesicki is the only fantasy-relevant tight end from the Bengals.
  • CIN Tight End #87
Bengals ruled TE Tanner Hudson, DT BJ Hill, DT Sheldon Rankins, and TE Tanner McLachlan inactive for Week 4 against the Panthers.
Hudson was inactive in Week 3 which led to a slight uptick is snaps for Mike Gesicki, so we can expect something similar in Week 4. Not having both Rankins and Hill leaves a big hole in the center of the Bengals’ defensive line, so watch for the Panthers to try and exploit that with Chuba Hubbard.
  • CIN Tight End #87
Bengals TE Tanner Hudson (knee) is out for Week 3 against the Commanders.
Hudson logged just nine offensive snaps as the fourth tight end for the Bengals in Week 1 before injuring his hamstring. Week 3 will be the second consecutive game he has missed with the ailment.
  • CIN Wide Receiver #5
Tee Higgins (hamstring) is inactive for Week 2 against the Chiefs.
No surprise here. Higgins did go through pregame warmups and even ran some routes with Jake Browning before the contest, but the doubtful designation was there for a reason. Also inactive for the Bengals are DE Cedric Johnson, OT Amarius Mims (pec), TE Tanner McLachlan and DT Kris Jenkins Jr. (thumb). Tanner Hudson (knee) was listed as doubtful, but is active for the contest.
  • CIN Tight End #87
Bengals TE Tanner Hudson (knee) listed as doubtful for Week 2 against the Chiefs.
Hudson appears unlikely to recapture his brief 2023 fantasy relevance. The Bengals also ruled out DT Kris Jenkins Jr. (thumb) and listed Amarius Mims (pectoral) as doubtful.
  • CIN Tight End #87
Bengals re-signed TE Tanner Hudson to a one-year contract.
Hudson was surprisingly productive for the Bengals in 2023. He stepped in as the team’s primary pass-catching tight end and had 39 receptions on 50 targets for 352 yards and a touchdown. Only ten tight ends had more receptions than Hudson from Week 9-18. His return to the team could complicate matters for Mike Gesicki, who this week signed with the Bengals on a one-year deal.
  • CIN Tight End #87
Tanner Hudson caught 2-of-2 targets for 11 yards in the Bengals’ Week 18 win over the Browns.
A true journeyman, 29-year-old Hudson’s 39 receptions more than tripled his previous career high as Irv Smith turned out to be a free agent bust. Free agency is back where Hudson is headed. Although we expect the Bengals to aim higher for their No. 1 tight end spot, Hudson’s strong performance in a pinch could give him a leg up on a new deal and 2024 53-man roster spot in Cincy.
  • CIN Tight End #87
Tanner Hudson caught all five targets for 49 yards in the Bengals’ Week 15 win over the Vikings.
Hudson was involved throughout the game as an outlet for rookie quarterback Jake Browning. He continues to play modest snap rates in conjunction with three other contributors at tight end but he could be asked to step up pending the health of wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who left late in the fourth quarter with a shoulder injury.
  • CIN Tight End #87
Tanner Hudson caught 2-of-3 targets for 21 yards and a touchdown in the Bengals’ Week 14 win over the Colts.
Hudson nabbed his first career touchdown on an 11-yard strike to open the second half. It was one of just two catches on the day for the journeyman tight end, but a touchdown alone is enough to put any tight end in the TE2 range given the bleak state of the position. His meager target share will keep him ranked among the TE2s for Week 15, though there are worse streaming options to be had this late in the season.
