Bills re-signed RB Taiwan Jones to a one-year contract.
Jones hasn’t had a carry since 2019 and only returned one kick last year, but he played on 71% of the special teams snaps for Buffalo. He’s no threat to Devin Singletary, Duke Johnson, or Zack Moss.

  • Running Back #36
    Bills re-signed RB Taiwan Jones.
It’s presumably a one-year contract for the linchpin special teamer. 32-year-old Jones has only 11 touches on offense since 2016.

  • FA Running Back #33
Bills added RB Devonta Freeman to their practice squad.
The former Falcons and Giants running back will join Buffalo’s practice squad after the team lost rookie Zack Moss to a season-ending ankle injury last week against the Colts. The Bills’ running back depth chart includes Devin Singletary -- who will operate as the primary ball carrier with Moss sidelined -- T.J. Yeldon, and Taiwan Jones. Yeldon was a healthy scratch last week against the Colts. Freeman, 28, was the Giants’ lead back from Week 4-6, seeing 53 touches over that stretch. Probably he won’t be active this week against Baltimore.

Zack Moss was carted off the field against the Colts with an apparent leg injury.
Moss was tackled awkwardly on his seventh and final carry of the day. Buffalo will likely go with Devin Singletary as their primary ball carrier with Taiwan Jones sprinkled in. Moss had 11 touches for 47 yards before departing.

  • Running Back #36
Bills agreed to terms with RB Taiwan Jones, formerly of the Texans, on a one-year contract.
Jones spent 2017-18 in Buffalo. Jones is a core special teamer capable of contributing in the return game.
  • Running Back #36
Eastern Washington RB Taiwan Jones reportedly missed his pre-draft visit with the Raiders, because he was “late getting back from a visit to Miami.”
The Raiders didn’t reschedule and can’t because the deadline for pre-draft visits has passed. Still sure to be on Oakland’s radar because of his measurables, Jones isn’t known to have ticked anyone in the organization off. NFL Network’s Mike Mayock recently predicted Jones would be a second-round pick.
  • Running Back #36
Jerry McDonald of Bay Area News Group heard Raiders owner Al Davis’ name mentioned on three different occasions at Eastern Washington RB Taiwan Jones’ Pro Day workout Thursday.
We wouldn’t make too much of this. Scouts and position coaches know that Davis has a mandate on speed at the skill positions, so his name popped up as an obvious suitor when Jones flirted with a 4.30 forty Thursday. Jones could end up as a poor man’s Darren McFadden in the NFL.
  • Running Back #36
Updating an earlier item, the agent for Eastern Washington RB Taiwan Jones says he never had a meeting scheduled with the Raiders.
Therefore, he could not have missed one because he was late getting back from a visit with Miami. Either way, the deadline for pre-draft visits has come and gone, so he will not be visiting Oakland before the draft. Beat writer Vittorio Tafur says there is “no way” the Raiders will use their second-round pick on Jones.

NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora reports Darren McFadden (foot) will sit out Thursday night’s game against the Chargers
The Raiders beat writers essentially had the same report on Monday. McFadden hadn’t graduated to running as of Monday and has yet to practice since injuring his foot. His status for Week 11 remains up in the air. Expect 18-22 touches for Michael Bush, with Taiwan Jones in a minor change-of-pace role.
  • FA Running Back #20
According to the Oakland Tribune’s Steve Corkran, “chances are” Darren McFadden (foot) will not play on Thursday night against San Diego.
McFadden, who hasn’t even resumed running, did not participate in Monday’s Wednesday-like practice walkthrough and is expected to be replaced by Michael Bush and Taiwan Jones against the Chargers. According to Corkran, McFadden “still hasn’t so much as gone out for a leisurely jog” since suffering a mid-foot sprain on October 23. After Thursday night, the Raiders’ next game is on November 20, giving McFadden nearly a full month of off time.
