McGill played a little down the stretch for the 49ers after being elevated off the practice squad. The veteran has 5.5 sacks and 23 quarterback hits in 55 career games and should be a lower-level rung of defensive line depth for the 49ers again in 2023.

McGill, 29, spent the final 10 weeks of this past season on the Vikings’ practice squad and was elevated to the active roster for the final two games. He saw action on 33 defensive snaps. McGill will compete for a depth job this summer.

Browns DT T.Y. McGill was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession on Saturday.

McGill was claimed off waivers by the Browns on Sunday, but Cleveland was unaware of the incident at the time. Even now, the team has no plans to cut McGill. It’s a very minor issue, but could force a short suspension.
