Will Dissly caught 2-of-3 targets for 21 yards in the Chargers’ Week 17 win over the Patriots.
Dissly returned to the Chargers’ lineup after missing the last three weeks with a shoulder injury. He tallied three targets, catching two for 21 yards. Working in tandem with him was Stone Smartt, who caught both of his targets for 23 yards, including a big fourth-down grab. The Chargers value both Dissly and Smartt as pass-catchers, though both being involved means neither is a stable fantasy target heading into Week 18 and the playoffs.
  • LAC Tight End #81
Will Dissly (shoulder) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 17 against the Patriots.
Dissly was forced from play in Week 14, facilitating two top 15 PPR finishes for Stone Smartt over the last three weeks. With Dissly back in the lineup, Smartt returns to dynasty-bench-stash mode and can be dropped from re-draft rosters. Hayden Hurst (illness) is questionable to play but his status is only mildly impactful. Dissly is a low-end TE1 streaming option.
  • LAC Tight End #81
Chargers ruled out Will Dissly (shoulder) for Week 16 against the Broncos.
Dissly is still working his way back from the shoulder injury he suffered in Week 14. Initial reports had him missing a couple of weeks, so this isn’t much of a surprise. Stone Smarrt will draw the start versus Denver. Smartt caught 5-of-6 targets for 50 yards in Week 15 and went for 54 yards in the previous game. He is a mid-range TE2 for Week 16.
  • LAC Tight End #84
Stone Smartt caught 5-of-6 targets for 50 yards in the Chargers’ Week 15 loss to the Buccaneers.
Smartt played very well against the Buccaneers, efficiently earning targets and picking yardage. He was used as both a short-field weapon and as a field-stretcher, earning one such target 20-plus yards downfield. Fantasy managers can again use Smartt as a TE1 streamer against the Broncos on Thursday night, as he continues auditioning for the 2025 starting role.
  • LAC Tight End #81
Fox’s Jordan Schultz reports Chargers TE Will Dissly (shoulder) is expected to miss “a couple weeks.”
Dissly was forced from the team’s Sunday Night Football loss to the Chiefs in Week 14 with a shoulder injury. Per Schultz, initial testing revealed an injury significant enough to hold him out in the coming weeks. Journeyman Stone Smartt filled in for Dissly in the second half and stands to benefit the most from the former’s absence. He could be an option for fantasy managers in a bind at one of the most top-heavy positions in football.
  • LAC Wide Receiver #48
Chargers declared S JT Woods, DB Deane Leonard, LB Amen Ogbongbemiga, TE Stone Smartt, and DL Otito Ogbonnia inactive for Week 14 against the Broncos.
The Chargers enter their divisional matchup against the Broncos with a relatively healthy roster. After failing to find the end zone in last week’s contest against the Patriots, Justin Herbert and company will hope to find more success in a game that’s a must-win for both teams as they look to hold on to any hopes of a playoff berth.
  • LAC Wide Receiver #48
Chargers TE Stone Smartt caught a 51-yard touchdown in Los Angeles’ Week 11 loss to the Packers.
Smartt’s second quarter score was his lone catch on three targets. Understandably, no one bothered to cover the deep reserve, though he also managed to break a tackle en route to the house. With Gerald Everett battling a chest injury, Smartt managed to steal some reps away from Donald Parham, but there is absolutely zero reason to consider the 25-year-old, second-year UDFA as a Week 12 streamer vs. Baltimore.
  • LAC Tight End #7
Gerald Everett (hip) did not practice Wednesday.
Everett went down with the hip issue in Week 7 and did not return. A DNP to open the week puts him on the wrong side of questionable as things stand right now. Should he miss Week 8, Donald Parham and Stone Smartt would play elevated roles in the LA offense. Parham may be worth a look in TE-premium leagues but it will be hard to trust either versus the Bears.
  • LAC Tight End #84
Old Dominion junior QB Stone Smartt completed 18-of-36 passes for 173 yards with an interception in a 38-22 loss on Saturday to Charlotte.
It was a rough day for Smartt and the Monarchs, and a very rough season. Old Dominion falls to 1-11, and for the most part, the club from Norfolk was outmatched in their games. Saturday was not really an exception to that. Smartt (6'4/220) showed a few flashes in those contests, but not nearly enough for ODU to be competitive. He’ll likely battle for the starting gig this summer.
  • LAC Tight End #84
Old Dominion junior QB Stone Smartt completed just 11-of-27 passes for 105 yards and an interception in Saturday’s 20-3 loss to Western Kentucky.
Efficiency is not typically Smartt’s game anyway, but he was particularly bad on Saturday. Smartt barely managed to complete half his passes. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound junior QB was even held in check on the ground, marking the first time all year that he had been kept out of the end zone and just the second time he ran for fewer than 45 yards. Old Dominion will try to bounce back against Marshall next week.
