Dolphins signed tackle Stockar McDougle, formerly of the Lions, to a one-year contract.
He will start for the Dolphins, who were extremely weak at both tackle positions. Miami has been perhaps the most active team thus far signing cheap, aging talent. Coach Saban obviously believes he can upgrade the roster by getting league average guys.
  • The Steelers will entertain three free agents in the next two days: former Lions tackle Stockar McDougle, former Patriots tackle Adrian Klemm, and former Giants tight end Marcellus Rivers.
Pittsburgh adheres most closely to New England’s model of thrifty free agent spending. McDougle is the biggest name here and would be excellent insurance at right tackle, where Pittsburgh plans to start untested second-year pro Max Starks. Klemm and Rivers would be reserves.
  • JAX Quarterback
    Jaguars released QB Tim Couch.
This could be the end for Couch. If the Jags keep a third QB, it will likely be Quinn Gray. The team also officially placed OL Stockar McDougle on IR and signed DEs Seth Payne and Tyler King.
  • Jaguars OL Stockar McDougle was diagnosed with a ruptured Achilles’ tendon Tuesday. He will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
McDougle was injured at practice on Monday night. This is a blow to the depth of the Jaguars’ offensive line, which will already be missing starting center Brad Meester for at least the first three weeks of the season.
  • Jaguars OL Stockar McDougle was charged with felony battery after an alleged incident with a bookkeeper at a plant nursery Friday.
McDougle, who spent the season on injured reserve due to a torn Achilles’ tendon, is accused of pushing a female bookkeeper after the owner of the nursery claimed McDougle owed him money. He’s also accused of pushing the nursery owner, a male. The man said McDougle owed him $1,200.
  • Jaguars signed T Stockar McDougle to a two-year, $1.605 million contract.
The 6-6/348-pounder was a starter in Detroit but flopped in 2005 with the ‘Fins. He’ll compete with Mike Williams to be the Jags’ top backup at tackle.
  • The Jaguars reportedly already regret signing T Stockar McDougle.
He’s overweight, which has been a problem throughout his career. The Jaguars guaranteed less than $250,000 of his deal.
  • Tackle Stockar McDougle has been removed from the Dolphins’ first-team offensive line.
Coach Nick Saban shook things up yesterday, benching McDougle, promoting Damion McIntosh to left tackle and moving Vernon Carey to right tackle. All of which is like shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic, of course.
