Kansas senior WR Steven Sims accepted an invitation to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
Sims (5'10/176) has been a very productive player for the Jayhawks, even with Kansas not exactly lighting the college football world on fire in his time there. He hauled in 214 receptions and scored 19 touchdowns in his four years with Kansas, and showed big-play ability as well as sure hands. He’s going to have to play in the slot because of his size, and he should get a chance to show his ability to separate and get open in Pasadena this January.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #82
Kansas senior WR Steven Sims brought in five receptions for 113 yards with a touchdown in a 21-17 loss to Kansas State on Saturday.
One of the best games of the year for Sims, who just hasn’t been able to build on his strong sophomore and junior years in 2018. Blame the quarterback play, as it’s unlikely that Sims (5'10/176) has gotten less talented. The touchdown was a 65-yarder from Peyton Bender that gave the Jayhawks a 17-14 lead at the top of the fourth quarter. Sims will try and build on this when Kansas faces Oklahoma next Saturday.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #82
Kansas senior WR Steven Sims caught 10 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 48-28 loss to Oklahoma State.
Sims also had a 23-yard run. This was such an encouraging game for Sims after he’d been held to a maximum of four catches in the other four games (13-128-1). KU started Carter Stanley today for the first time this year. Sims’ arrow is pointed up if Stanley keeps the job.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #82
Kansas sophomore WR Steven Sims Jr. hauled in nine catches for 90 yards in Saturday’s loss to Oklahoma State.
Sims is up to a 37-543-5 line. He holds some promise, and plays in a spread system inclined to throw, but Kansas’ offense doesn’t reach the end zone enough to make him a high-end fantasy option. The Jayhawks are at Oklahoma next time.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #82
Kansas sophomore WR Steven Sims Jr. caught nine passes for 124 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 48-21 loss to West Virginia.
Sims was held out of the end zone for the first three quarters before an 11-yard scoring pass with 11:52 remaining in the game finally brought him to glory. This was the 5-foot-10, 176-pounder’s first 100-yard receiving effort since October 8. Through nine games, Sims has caught 51 passes for 702 yards and five touchdowns.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #82
Kansas sophomore WR Steven Sims Jr. caught seven passes for 79 yards in Saturday’s 24-21 victory over Texas.
Matthew Wyman’s 25-yard field goal in overtime gave Kansas their first Big 12 win in two years, snapping a 19-game conference losing streak, and first win over the Longhorns since 1938. Sims also converted a crucial 2-point conversion that pulled Kansas to within 21-18 in the fourth quarter. Kansas has shown signs of turning around the ship this season, nearly upsetting TCU and Iowa State prior to today. They close out the season next Saturday at Kansas State.

ESPN’s Jake Trotter believes that Kansas junior WR Steven Sims Jr. could surpass 1,000 yards receiving this coming season.
“Whether Carter Stanley holds on to the quarterback job, or Peyton Bender beats him out, Sims should build on last year’s breakout season,” Trotter writes. “Especially with pass-first coordinator Doug Meacham now calling the plays.” Sims (5'10/176) logged a sharp 72-859-7 receiving line last season. He put up four games of at least 100 yards.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #82
Kansas junior WR Steven Sims Jr. (ankle) returned to have six catches for 60 yards in a 42-30 loss to Ohio on Saturday.
Sims (5'10/176) missed last Saturday’s 45-27 loss to Central Michigan due to an ankle injury. He should be ready to roll for the Big 12 schedule. Sims posted a 72-859-7 receiving line last season.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #82
Kansas junior WR Steven Sims Jr. caught four passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-16 victory over Southeast Missouri State on Saturday.
Sims (5'10/176) was a breakout star for the Jayhawks last year, and he was easily the best player on the field on Saturday night. His first score was an impressive 77-yard grab to make it 7-0 Jayhawks, and his second trip to the end zone came at the end of the second half to give Kansas a 21-7 lead. The ball is going to be spread around in the David Beatty offense, but Sims is going to see more than his fair share of looks, and he’ll take advantage of them.

Sims (5'10/176) finished with no catches. We’ll update the star receiver’s status when more is known.
