  • DEN Tight End
Stephen Alexander caught a three-yard touchdown pass Saturday.
He was on the field near the goal-line, not Jeb Putzier. Putzier was also involved in the red zone though. Right now it appears Denver would like to use both tight ends, bad news for Putzier.
  • DEN Tight End
Stephen Alexander is currently ahead of Jeb Putzier on Denver’s depth chart.
''Jeb can be special, and he’s a big part of what we do,’' Broncos special-teams coach Tim Brewster said. ''But right now, Stephen is the most complete of our tight ends.’' We’d wait and see how long this lasts before investing a draft pick in Alexander.
  • DEN Tight End
The Broncos see their tight end position as more blocking-heavy than in Shannon Sharpe’s days.
Stephen Alexander should start over rookie Tony Sheffler, who is getting schooled in the fine art of blocking. The team was unhappy with Jeb Putzier’s reliance on his hands. Alexander probably won’t catch the ball enough to be of interest to fantasy leaguers.
  • DEN Tight End
Stephen Alexander caught four passes for 27 yards and a touchdown today.
This was a much better performance than when he dropped a wide-open TD pass last week. He could end up having value if your current tight ends are not getting it done.
  • DEN Tight End
Stephen Alexander dropped a wide open TD pass on Sunday.
Alexander hasn’t produced that much as a Lion. The drop really cost Detroit, because Jason Hanson missed the ensuing field goal.
  • DEN Tight End
Stephen Alexander caught one pass for zero yards Saturday.
Battling for a starting job, Alexander has only two catches for four yards this preseasn.
  • DEN Tight End
Broncos signed tight end Stephen Alexander, formerly of the Lions, to a three-year, $4.2 million contract, including a $1 million signing bonus.
Huh? Denver doesn’t have a ton of cap space, plenty of defensive needs, and they sign an old mediocre tight end to backup Jeb Putzier? The only conclusion we can make is that Putzier may still get dealt to the Jets. Otherwise, this is a baffling move.
  • FA Tight End #88
Leonard Pope and Troy Bienemann were the Cardinals’ starters in a two-tight end set during the team’s workout Wednesday.
Rookie Ben Patrick (hamstring) has missed roughly 20 practices. The Cards are expected to explore the waiver wire after June 1 for a veteran tight end to pair with Pope. Stephen Alexander is one name that could be available.

  • DEN Tight End
    Broncos re-signed TE Stephen Alexander.
Alexander, who was cut Saturday, says he’s healthy after dealing with a calf injury last week. He will mostly block behind starter Daniel Graham.
