NFL suspended Redskins DB Simeon Thomas four games for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.
A second-year pro, Thomas had been primarily a special teamer until playing 38-of-60 snaps on defense in Week 14 against the Packers. Elderly for a second-year pro — 2019 was his age-26 campaign — Thomas figures to have a difficult time cracking someone’s 53-man roster once he comes off suspension in 2020.

Browns signed sixth-round DB Simeon Thomas to a four-year, $2.561 million contract.
The deal includes a $146,878 signing bonus. Thomas has good size and was productive when on the field in college, but he missed games in four seasons because of academic issues including all of the 2014 season. He was also arrested on charges of felony theft last April, although the charge was later reduced to a misdemeanor. It is somewhat surprising he was drafted, and he is by no means a lock to make the final roster.

Browns selected Louisiana-Lafayette S Simeon Thomas with the No. 188 overall pick in the NFL draft.
Thomas (6'2/197) struggled with academics enough that it cost him significant playing time in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017, including the entire 2015 season. He also missed several games last year after being arrested for felony theft. Thomas was not expected to be drafted.
