Patriots OG Sidy Sow (hip) will not play in Week 2 against the Seahawks.
Sow missed Week 1 because of the hip injury and will sit for at least one more week. He started 13 games at right guard as a rookie and was projected to move to left guard in his second season. Michael Jordan (not that one) took his spot in the lineup in Week 1 and should do so again versus Seattle. Safety Kyle Dugger is listed as questionable because of an ankle injury.

Sidy Sow wasn’t spotted for the media-access portion of practice Thursday.
It looks like Sow will miss another week of action because of his hip injury. Mike Reiss of ESPN reports that Michael Jordan will likely be elevated from the practice squad again for Week 2 against the Seahawks, and likely start at left guard in Sow’s absence.
  • NE Running Back #4
Patriots RB Antonio Gibson (hip) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
Gibson came into Week 1 with the hip injury and wound up playing to the tune of seven carries for 18 yards. He starts out the week limited, but given he played in Week 1, there is little reason to be concerned for his Week 2 status just yet. Starting RB Rhamondre Stevenson was listed as limited due to rest while the only Patriot to not participate in practice was OG Sidy Sow (ankle).
  • NE Wide Receiver #6
Patriots declared WR Javon Baker, QB Joe Milton III (3rd QB), DT Eric Johnson II, LB Curtis Jacobs, OT Demontrey Jacobs, G Zach Thomas and G Sidy Sow inactive for Week 1’s matchup against the Bengals.
Baker was an early standout in training camp, but tailed off in August as drops became an issue. He made headlines for the wrong reasons last week after going live on Instagram to complain about being pulled over by police in Boston. Head coach Jerod Mayo said Baker has already been punished and that it wouldn’t impact his game status. Nevertheless, Baker is a healthy inactive while Kayshon Boutte is active. Baker is buried on the Patriots’ wide receiver depth chart at the moment.
  • NE Center #69
Patriots LG Cole Strange (knee) is questionable for Week 2 against the Dolphins.
Also questionable for the Patriots are left tackle Trent Brown, center David Andrews, right guard Sidy Sow, and right guard Mike Onwenu. The Pats will be lucky to get more than one of these linemen active for Week 2. Though Miami’s pass-rush is far from elite, they could look like world-beaters if they are facing a swathe of backups in the trenches. Fantasy managers looking for a streaming quarterback should pass on Mac Jones this week.

Patriots selected Eastern Michigan G Sidy Sow with the No. 117 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Few people had heard of Sow (6’5/324) before the NFL Combine, when he blew away attendees with a sensational 9.72 RAS testing performance. Upon arriving at Eastern Michigan, he converted from his high school position of DT and took up a spot on the left side of the offensive line. In six years he would accumulate 55 starts, with 44 of them coming at left guard. Sow has legit strength jumping out of a stance, and moves well enough to gain the advantage on pulls and traps. He needs to work on some of the finer points of blocking that would have been needed had he played against a higher level of competition. Due to poor punch accuracy, Sow has trouble sustaining blocks at times. Sow will join a Patriots offensive line graded by PFF as last year’s 12th best pass-blocking unit.

Eastern Michigan senior OT Sidy Sow received a 6th round grade from Draft Analyst’s Tony Pauline.
Sow (6'5/324) checks boxes with his size, and Pauline believes Sow “blocks with solid fundamentals and shows ability in pass protection or as a position blocker in the running game.” Last season, Sow played 532 snaps at left tackle and he’ll likely be given opportunities to stay at tackle to start his NFL career. Consider Sow a UDFA prospect with a chance to earn a late-round pick next spring.
