  • FA Safety #48
The Dolphins did not tender restricted free agent S Sheldrick Redwine, making him a free agent.
There’s interest in a return to Miami, per the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson. Redwine played just 33 defensive snaps between the Jets and Dolphins last season, as he was waived at last cuts by the Browns and had a sub-month stint in New York before Miami picked him up in October. Redwine showed some promise as a box safety with the Browns in 2019, posting a 68.4 PFF coverage grade in 374 snaps. He’ll turn 26 in November.

    Dolphins re-signed S Sheldrick Redwine to a one-year contract.
Redwine was non-tendered as a restricted free agent, so he is almost certainly coming back for less than the low tender ($2.4 million). He will compete for a special teams role in camp.

  • FA Defensive Back #42
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Browns S Morgan Burnett is expected to miss the remainder of 2019 with a torn Achilles suffered in Thursday’s Week 11 win over the Steelers.
An MRI should confirm the diagnosis later today. Burnett’s likely season-ender represents another crushing blow to a Browns secondary that has rarely been at full strength. Assuming Burnett is done for 2019, he’ll finish the year with 41 tackles, two sacks and one interception across 367 defensive snaps. Juston Burris and Sheldrick Redwine are the leading candidates to replace him at strong safety.

Browns signed fourth-round S Sheldrick Redwine to a four-year contract.
A balanced defender with good size, Redwine (6'0"/196) blazed a 4.44 forty at the Combine in Indy last month. That came on the heels of a standout senior year at the U, where he totaled 64 tackles and three picks over 13 appearances. The Browns addressed safety in the draft with Redwine and LSU’s Greedy Williams.

Browns selected Miami S Sheldrick Redwine with the No. 119 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

The Browns came into the draft wanting to address safety and they’ve done exactly that by adding Greedy Williams and now Redwine in the fourth round.

An NFC national scout told NFL Media analyst Lance Zierlein that Miami DB Redwine made progress over the last ear.
The full quote to Zierlein. “He got a lot better from last year to this year even though his production looked better in 2017. He’s inconsistent, but he’s big and he can run and cover which gives him NFL value.” The question most have is what position he’ll play in the NFL, as some view the defender as a corner, others a safety. “n run support and as a tackler in general, he plays behind heavy pad and handles his work with an NFL level physicality,” Zierlein writes. “He’s better suited in split-zone or down in the box and could become a key cog of the special teams until he gets his shot to start.” Zierlein believes that Redwine goes in the 4th-to-5th round, and compares him to Los Angeles Chargers safety Rayshawn Jenkins.
  • FA Safety #48
Miami DB Sheldrick Redwine ran the 40-yard dash in 4.44 seconds on Monday at the NFL Scouting Combine.
A very strong number as a safety. The question is how teams that view Redwine as a corner view it, and it’s worth noting that Redwine practiced as a corner at the Reese’s Senior Bowl, and at 6-foot, 195-pounds, it might be the position he best profiles at. In addition to a solid 40 time, Redwine also jumped well with a 39-inch vertical and 130-inch broad jump. A very solid day for the Hurricane.

Miami DB Sheldrick Redwine will be playing cornerback during the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
Very interesting. Redwine was a free safety at Miami, but the 6-foot-1, 195-pound defensive back has corner size, and that’s the position he’ll be playing in Mobile. That makes the former Hurricane one of the five prospects with the most to prove to The Draft Network’s Joe Marino. “I never had questions about Redwine’s projection to playing safety in the NFL,” Marino writes. “He was a fixture there for the Canes for multiple seasons and gauging his skill set was easy, but the transition to corner has me perplexed.” We’re excited to see how he handles said transition.

Miami senior S Sheldrick Redwine accepted an invitation to the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
Redwine is a full-bodied free safety listed at 6-foot-1, 195-pounds, but it’s his production as a senior that has led to this Senior Bowl invitation. In 2018, Redwine started all 13 games making a career-high 64 total tackles with four forced turnovers (three interceptions and one forced fumble recovery). A free safety with three blitzes as well, Redwine is currently viewed as a late-round prospect.
