Ravens selected Ohio State CB Shaun Wade with the No. 160 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Every draft season comes with a few cornerbacks who could benefit from moving to safety. Wade (6'1/196) is one of them. What Wade lacks in top-end speed and smooth hips, he makes up for with calculated footwork and a nose for being around the ball in the run game. Wade takes really smart angles, both in zone coverage and against the run, and is more than willing to dig through trash to fit the run. Wade could benefit from being moved back to safety and getting to play what is in front of him. He is a strong tackler, too. At cornerback, Wade does still have enough savvy and physicality to be given a shot before a potential move to the back end, but his first few years in the league will be telling. Do not be startled if Wade makes an early Kareem Jackson-like move to safety.
