Ricky Seals-Jones (hip) is questionable to return for Washington’s Week 10 game against the Bucs.
Seals-Jones was on his way to a nice outing against a Tampa team that has given up gobs of production to opposing tight ends this year. He had three catches for 30 yards, along with a drop, before exiting the game. Converted basketball player Sammis Reyes would presumably be next up at tight end for Washington.

  • MIN Tight End #35
Washington declared TE Sammis Reyes, OT Saahdiq Charles, QB Kyle Allen, DE Shaka Toney, and CB Darryl Roberts in active for Week 1 against the Chargers.
There are no surprise inactives for the Football Teams this week. Curtis Sameul (groin) is slated to miss the next three weeks after being placed on injured reserve, opening up more playing time and targets for explosive rookie WR Dyami Brown and slot receiver Adam Humphries.

  • MIN Tight End #35
Former Chilean basketball player Sammis Reyes made Washington’s 53-man roster as a tight end.
The 6'6" and 260-pound Reyes -- who came to the US from Chile to play basketball -- was one of 11 players chosen for the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program this year. Reyes, 25, played Division I basketball at Tulane. A long shot to make the final roster, Reyes is officially on the Football Team’s depth chart behind Logan Thomas and Ricky Seals-Jones.

TE Sammis Reyes’ one-year deal with the Washington Football Team includes $392,600 in guaranteed money.
Reyes got a $20,000 signing bonus in the deal. Reyes, from Chile, was one of 11 players chosen for the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program. The Football Team signed him Monday, and his contract includes a considerable guarantee considering Reyes has never played organized football. The 6'6" and 260-pound Reyes, 25, played Division I basketball at Tulane before shifting his focus to football. For now, he’s no threat to Logan Thomas as the Football Team’s primary pass-catching tight end.

    Washington signed TE Sammis Reyes.

Reyes, 25, played Division I basketball at Tulane. The Football Team signed him Tuesday, and he’ll look to crack the roster this summer. “I wanted to go to the NBA; that was my dream my entire childhood, and of course it never happened,” Reyes told the South Florida Sun Sentinel in January. “So when I was 23, my current agent, my family and my close friends, they were like, ... ‘You’ve got to give this football thing a shot. You’re fast, you’re strong, you’re powerful.’ So my friends, my best friends, and everybody around me convinced me to give it a shot.” Reyes profiles as a practice squad player for Washington.
