Raiders signed Missouri Western CB Sam Webb.
Webb (6'0/204) finished 2021 with 28 tackles, a team-high two forced fumbles, and six pass breakups. He is your prototypical-looking cornerback with a long-and-lean frame. The athleticism is there, which he proved with 4.48 40-time and RAS score of 9.3. He’s excellent at using his body off the snap as he presses receivers right away, hounding them on the first few yards. It is when the receiver gets through that initial press where you see Webb struggle. His footwork is sloppy, and he can’t recover if a pass catcher creates separation with a hitch or double-move. The ultimate question will be whether Webb can make that transition from D-II. The possibility of starting is not in the cards right now, but he should be useful in zone coverage.
