Titans signed sixth-round CB Ryan Smith to a multi-year contract.
The 5-10/165-pound early entrant from Florida has terrific ball skills but suspect speed and needs to add strength. He doesn’t appear likely to make it past final cuts at a position Tennessee loaded up at in the offseason.
  • TB Wide Receiver
Titans informed 12 players of their release Friday: WR Joel Filani, CB Ryan Smith, T Mike Otto, TEs Cooper Wallace and Jamie Petrowski, RBs Dontrell Moore and Quinton Ganther, DEs Josh Savage and Jason Hall, G Issac Snell, T Seth Wand and LB Terna Nande.
The first three names were Tennessee second day draft picks this year, and are likely candidates for the practice squad. No surprises among the rest of the list. Wand was once a starter in Houston.
  • TEN Defensive Back
Titans selected Florida CB Ryan Smith with the No. 206 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Smith graduated from Utah in three years before heading to UF along with Urban Meyer. He needs to add strength but has elite ball skills. Smith could push Andre Woolfolk off the roster with a good preseason.
  • TEN Defensive Back
Florida cornerback Ryan Smith announced Friday that he’ll forego his senior season at the school and enter the 2007 NFL Draft.
Smith, who followed Urban Meyer from Utah in 2006 after graduating in three years, is very slight at 5-10/165 but led the SEC in interceptions with eight. He could develop into an R.W. McQuarters type if he bulks up.
