The Bucs have re-signed restricted free agent linebacker Ryan Nece to a multi-year deal.
Nece is a special teams ace. At this point, he’ll compete with Jeff Gooch and Marquis Cooper for Tampa Bay’s vacated starting strongside linebacker job next season.

Bucs LB Cato June (foot) is listed as doubtful for the Wild Card round.
He has a broken foot and is likely lost for all of the postseason. June, the Bucs’ top cover linebacker, is expected to be replaced by Ryan Nece on early downs. Rookie Quincy Black will take June’s spot in the nickel defense.

Bucs LB Ryan Nece’s name has reportedly been discussed in a possible Brett Favre trade.
Nece couldn’t help the Packers on defense, so we’re not sure why they’d want him. He is currently Tampa Bay’s third-string strong-side linebacker.
  • DET Linebacker
Lions signed LB Ryan Nece, formerly of the Buccaneers.
This reunion seemed inevitable, as Nece is a favorite of Lions defensive boss Joe Barry and the team has a hole on the strong side. Nece could pass current starter Alex Lewis on the depth chart early this season.
  • TB Defensive Lineman
Bucs waived DT Dre Moore and released LB Ryan Nece.
Moore was a fourth-round pick in April, but showed up overweight and never got on the coaching staff’s good side. Nece isn’t a starting-caliber LB.

Free agent OLB Ryan Nece, who was out of the league in 2009, wants to play again this season according to ESPN’s Len Pasquarelli.
Nece started 10 games for the Lions in 2008 and is a strong special teamer, but thinks he was on the street for 2009 because there was a perception he was injured. At 31, he’d be a backup at best if someone gives him a shot.
