Sands, who is in the news because he’s dissing ex-coach Lane Kiffin, has been a disappointment since re-signing with Oakland in 2007. Tom Cable is a fan of Ryan Boschetti, but it still seems unlikely they would cut Sands when their run defense is so thin.

A journeyman entering his age-29 season, Boschetti played at UCLA when Tom Cable was the Bruins’ offensive coordinator. He’s a No. 4 tackle at best.

Boschetti, 27, lacks the athletic ability to be an impact pass-rushing tackle. He works hard though, which Oakland hopes will rub off on Tommy Kelly.

Boschetti was a long-shot to make the club, so his waiving does not come as a surprise. There’s a chance he latches on with a club that lacks DT depth.

The Redskins like how Boschetti practices, but he rarely gets into games.

Mix was once highly thought of in the organization, but coaching change and a rib injury put him well behind. Devine was the No. 4 quarterback.

Boschetti returns to probably continue to be inactive on game days. He had been released initially when the ‘Skins signed Shaun Suisham.

Boschetti will be a rotational lineman if he sees the field.

Boschetti’s future is strictly as a reserve but the ‘Skins seem to like him. He’ll be a sitting squarely on the roster bubble this summer.

They will become free agents later this week.
