Robert Woods was not targeted in the Texans’ Divisional Round loss to the Chiefs.
Woods was held off the stat sheet as Xavier Hutchinson drew six looks and John Metchie saw two. Although Woods’ hip injury was undoubtedly a factor, it’s not a great sign for the 32-year-old as he heads to the open market. Limited to 60 catches in two years in Houston, Woods could struggle to find guaranteed money in free agency. Someone would have to really like his leadership ability.
  • HOU Running Back #28
Texans RB Joe Mixon and WR Robert Woods are active for the Divisional Round against the Chiefs.
Both players came into the weekend listed as questionable, with Mixon downgraded throughout the week with an ankle injury and Woods missing all three practices with a hip injury. Also active for the Texans is linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair. Inactive for the Texans are RB J.J. Taylor, LB Devin White ,DE Jerry Hughes, G/C Kendrick Green, G Nick Broeker, and DT Kurt Hinish.
  • HOU Running Back #28
Texans listed Joe Mixon (ankle) as questionable for Saturday’s AFC Divisional Round game against the Chiefs.
This is one worth watching. After popping up as limited following an ankle injury he sustained in Wednesday’s practice, Mixon was a DNP on Thursday and officially carries a questionable designation into the weekend. It’s possible Mixon was sidelined on Thursday out of precaution, but his status will be one to monitor until the team officially confirms his availabilty. In addition to Mixon, LB Azeez Al-Shaair (knee) and WR Robert Woods (hip) are also listed as questionable.

Robert Woods (hip) did not practice Wednesday.
Woods was spotted at practice by reporters earlier in the day. The DNP designation means whatever work he did was not enough to be considered a limited session. It also puts his Divisional Round status in doubt. With Diontae Johnson cut and Woods banged up, expect to see plenty of John Metchie as the Texans’ No. 2 receiver versus Kansas City.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #2
Robert Woods (hip) returned to practice Wednesday.
Woods missed the first practice of the week with a hip issue but was back on the field today. For a veteran wideout, a day off is nothing out of the normal this late in the season. With Diontae Johnson out of the picture, Woods will likely function as Houston’s WR3 in the Divisional Round.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #2
Robert Woods (hip) did not practice on Tuesday.
With the Texans cutting loose Diontae Johnson earlier today, we could see a condensed target tree for the Texans going forward. Woods probably isn’t in any real danger of missing the Divisional Round, but dealing with a hip injury is a boost for the odds of John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson seeing expanded roles for sicko DFS purposes. Woods played 51 percent of the snaps against the Chargers last week and saw four targets.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #2
Robert Woods caught 2-of-4 targets for 22 yards in the Texans’ Wild Card Round win against the Chargers.
With John Metchie functioning as the Texans’ No. 2 wideout, Woods was an afterthought along with every Houston pass catcher besides Nico Collins and Metchie. Woods, who had two receptions for 39 yards in Week 18 against the Titans, won’t be a fantasy option in the Divisional Round.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #2
Robert Woods caught 2-of-3 targets for 39 yards in Houston’s Week 18 win over the Titans.
He fumbled one of them away. The Texans weren’t exactly throwing the ball downfield after being stacked to a 13-0 lead early in this one, but Woods is probably more of an “extension of the run game” player for this offense at this point. That he ends with that line despite 32 snaps speaks loudly about his fantasy value being low going forward.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #2
Robert Woods caught 3-of-6 targets for 19 yards in Houston’s Week 16 loss to the Chiefs.
Woods only narrowly outsnapped Xavier Hutchinson, 35 to 34, in a post-Tank Dell world. Neither receiver did much with their additional attention. We’d speculate Woods wins the playing-time battle, but there’s not much fantasy juice to squeeze from “No. 3 target in a Bobby Slowik passing offense.” Woods (or Hutchinson if you prefer) will be a deep-leagues only play against the Ravens in Week 17 barring a John Metchie recovery.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #2
Robert Woods caught 2-of-3 targets for 44 yards in the Texans’ Week 9 loss to the Jets.
Woods received the fourth most targets in this contest behind Tank Dell (nine) and Dalton Schultz and Dare Ogunbowale each receiving three. The wideout made a nice catch on a 32-yard reception near the end of the contest, but was mostly a non-factor. Woods is a high-risk, medium-reward option in this Houston offense, and that will continue in Week 10 against the Lions.
