Henderson started 33 games at Southern Miss and finished his career with 13.5 sacks. He’ll likely need to show versatility to make the 53-man roster.

A 2008 sixth-round pick by the Giants, Henderson has yet to play in an NFL game and was never overly impressive in college. The Lions look to be getting something for nothing. He probably wasn’t going to make the team.

Henderson was acquired in April in exchange for a 2010 seventh-round pick, so it’s surprising to see him cut so soon. The move opens up space for recently signed Golden Tate and Chester Pitts.
